Six NC Public Schools Make Kiplinger List
RALEIGH, N.C. — Six state universities were ranked among the 100 best education values in the United States, according to the February edition of Kiplinger's Personal Finance.
Topping the list for the sixth time was the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
"Tar Heel students pay $13,584 or less and get small classes, a top-notch faculty and a supportive environment that enables 84 percent of students to earn a degree within six years," Kiplinger said.
North Carolina State University came in at No. 12, Appalachian State University was 31st, UNC Wilmington was 35th, UNC Asheville was 36th and UNC Greensboro ranked No. 53.
A year ago, North Carolina State ranked 28th, Appalachian was 33rd, UNC-Asheville was 50th and UNC-Greensboro was 75th.
"I am proud that six of our universities are being recognized for their academic excellence and the value they provide to students and our state," said Gov. Mike Easley.
